The energy of a 2 year old ~ Kansas City Photographer

Monday, August 30th, 2010

This is Jacob and by lookng at this picture you’re probably thinking he is totally posing.  Well, think again.  Jacob is two, and 2 year olds don’t sit still, let alone pose for the camera.  I didn’t even know I had captured this most perfect expression of Jacob’s until I was working in post production.  You see Jacob was running around the back of our yard exploring every nook and cranny.  Totally ignoring the fact that I was chasing him, or that his dad was asking him to do things.  Two year olds have one objective and that is to discover the world one touch, one smell, one taste, and one question at a time.

This is Jacob with his awesome dad Nathan.  As you can see both boys have great camera smiles!

If only we could bottle the energy our little two year olds seem to have endless supply of, we would be soooo rich!  Photographing two year olds is an adventure of my own, but I love it!

Jacob I loved taking your pictures.  You are always welcome back to explore my yard some more!

Children photography~ Kansas City

Wednesday, August 25th, 2010

Meet most perfect adorable Colton and Keira!  As you can see they are a perfect pair.  This is one of my favorite shots to take of the siblings when the little one is still too young to sit up by themselves.  However, it doesn’t always turn out this perfectly!  Notice the contrast in eyes!

Keira is a spicy, fun-loving ,little girl that adores life like she adores her momma and daddy.  Here she’s smiling at her mom Devin camera left.

Colton is the typical chilled out second child.  He’s chubby, happy, and makes faces like this!  I love it!

This picture should remind us all the close our eyes every now and then and take it the perfection we call life.

Kids love to try to see me through the lens.  I love the pics I get in the process.

When you’re 3 and adorable you can do things like dance around the studio in nothing but a crown and tutu.

Jason, Devin, Keira, and Colton thanks again for allowing me to capture these fleeting moments.  I cherish them, and look forward to the next time.

Headshots, Opera, and Cute Kids

Friday, August 13th, 2010

Ever been to an Opera?  Me neither, but I think it would be cool.  That’s why I’m going to go this year to the Lyric theatre to watch Joanna perform.  Joanna contacted me to take some new headshots for her upcoming perfomance.  I’m so happy for her.  I know how hard she’s worked to get to this place.  People that follow their dreams warm my heart.

This is her beautiful daughter Kylee.  It’s hard to believe she’s gotten so big.  I remember when she was an itty bitty baby still just as beautiful as she is now.

This is Kylee’s little sister and they couldn’t be more different.  Kylee is quiet, reserved and easy going.  Her sister is wild, opinionated, and always smiling and ready for fun.  Both girls are super sweet.

Both girls are also so very very beautiful!  I had a lot of fun taking their pictures and already look forward to the next time.

Kid Photography~ Kansas City

Sunday, August 1st, 2010

This is little Oliver and he really is this cute!

These are his crazy brothers Jonah and Hayden.  Jonah is all about having fun, he is  a free spirit that loves to smile.  His brother is a much more serious kid, it’s probably safe to say they’re opposite.  But just as this picture shows they are buddies.  Competitive, but mostly friends.  Jonah is more worried about sports and how to have fun, while Hayden is all about learning.  Only in first grade and already reading and comprehending Little House on the Prairie, Hayden is a book worm.  He even had a mad science birthday party where they did fun and crazy experiments.  Sounds pretty fun to me.  Oh did I mention he’s polite, like from another time polite.  I was impressed, however I can really relate to Jonah more.  I did not memorize the periodic table just for fun.

This post is really about Oliver since he was the man of the hour.  It’s hard to say which direction Oliver’s personlity will go, being he’s only one.  There is however one obvisous fact.  He’s got a personality, a BIG one!  And he loves cookies.  He was surrounded by cookies the whole time.  Any face you see that isn’t smiling is him asking for more cookies.  HAHA  During shoots we give kids cookies.  Keeping them happy is kinda important, and eventually they’ll be older and cookie negotiation will be a non issue.

These are his dynamic parents Jill and Mark.   With three boys under the age of 8 you gotta give them props for being so much fun.  They are laid back and loving, just trying to let their boys become whoever, or whatever they want to become.   Jill also introduced me to Tea Drops http://www.teadrops.us/ and bubble tea so I will love her forever!

I can’t wait to watch these boys grow up from behind my camera.

Newborn pics and even more ~ Kansas City Photographer

Friday, July 30th, 2010

Today is the last day of July which is so very hard to believe.  This summer is going by way too fast.  I love summer, I mean I really love summer, and I don’t want it to end.  So today I’m thinking it’s time to take a sec and think about the little moments.  The ones that really matter.  To show you what I mean I picked the Hendrickson family.

This is Abby and her newborn baby brother Bob.  I like to look at this picture because it makes me wonder what she’s thinking.  I tried to guess, but it just didn’t feel right.  So I’ll leave those thoughts to you.

This picture is all about the moments daddys share with their little girls.  There is such a special bond.  I was happy to capture this moment because truly Abby is her daddy’s little girl.

Danielle is such a beautiful mom, she was a natural.  It can be frightening for new moms to bring their week old baby in for pics.  It’s just downright stressful, but Danielle was born to be a mom, so it was easy.  Just as easy as it is for her to love her baby Bob.

I know it’s my job to capture the faces of the people my clients want to remember.  I embrace the responsibility and cherish the opportunitiy to work with amazing people.  What I love about my job it capturing the moments.
