Do the pictures included in the sitting fee all have to be the same pose?
No, you can choose a different pose for each of the three included sizes. But, if you choose wallets instead of the 4×6, each wallet will be the same pose.
What ages are best to get pictures taken in the first year?
It’s best to schedule your newborn shoot within the first 2 weeks, then it’s every three months for the first year.
What should I wear?
Solid colors that are either darker or lighter tend to photograph the best. Loud patterns can be distracting to the eye. Black is ideal for newborn pictures. Little girls in white dresses are also a favorite of mine. Ultimately, I think what’s most important is that you feel comfortable. It’s not about your clothes, it’s all about you and your family. If you’re planning a boudoir session, just contact me and we can chat.
How long will the shoot last?
Typically my shoots last about an hour, but I’m very flexible. I work with and around my client. If they’re happy and having fun, I’ll shoot as long as they let me. I don’t want tears, picture day is supposed to be fun. It’s all about having fun.
How many pictures can I expect?
It really depends, but typically between 50-80
What should I bring?
I’m not a really big “prop” photographer, but if you have something that is sentimental definitely bring it. Meaningful stuffed animals, blankets, family heirloms, and cute hats are awesome. Bring a couple outfits if you’re unsure, but mostly I like the naked babies and all their rolls.
How will I proof the photos after the session?
A couple days after the shoot, I will post the pics to your very own web page for you to view and share with friends and family. You’ll be able to view the images in color, black and white, and sepia. You’ll also have pricing and ordering information on that page.
How did you get started doing photography, and how long have you been doing it?
I’ve been taking pictures as long as I can remember. I traveled a lot when I was young and I always had my little Kodak camera with me. I would take several rolls of 110 film every trip. Film…haha.
I guess I was just born with a love for photography, because I never stopped. I took classes in high school and college. Then I walked into my basement one day 5 years ago and my dream became a reality. I still open the door turn on the lights and sigh.

Any and all, I can take stretch marks out, remove acne, and darkness under the eyes. I may not make all the fine touch ups on the proofs, but I do on the prints, and CD if you choose to order it.
How long do I have to order?
I like for my clients to try to get their order in 2 weeks after having them put on the web. They will stay up for a month. I find if I give people longer and they can’t decide they just procrastinate. I know I do.
Once I place an order, how long until I receive them?
Typically about a week, but of course I can rush the pics if you need me too. That usually takes 4 days.
Do you do announcements?
I did announcements for a while but found I couldn’t compete with the web in terms of cost, so now I offer my clients a killer deal. Basically, you can get whatever images you want for your announcements for $30.
What other types of products can I get?
Canvases, collages, jewelry, albums, books, you name it I can create it!

Lucy and Layla are my little rat terriers. They will bark at you when you come over, just ignore them. They’re all bark. I also have a horse named Diamond. She’s perfect!
Do you only do studio photography?
No way, I need some fresh air every now and then. I especially love the fall that’s my favorite time to go outside. I do charge a $30 travel fee, but you can come back and do studio pics too. If you don’t want to go somewhere we can just do some in my backyard, my house backs up to Burr Oak Woods.
What’s your favorite thing to photograph?
I love to see the world, so travel photography is my favorite. People in exotic places, that’s where my heart is. But the people here are pretty awesome too.
Can other family members order pictures?
Sure, no problem. They can place an order independently as well, so don’t feel like you have to coordinate.
How do we get the pictures when they come in?
I can mail them to you for $5, or you can arrange a time to come pick them up.
Where is your studio?
My studio is in my basement. I love having an in house studio. I wouldn’t have it any other way. If you’re ever running late, don’t worry, I’m just doing laundry or watching TV. That’s a lie, I’m always working. My wonderful husband/assistant, Jon, is doing the laundry.
When should I book my appointment?
I would recommend at least a month in advance. However, if you need a quick appointment, I can usually squeeze you in. Just give me a call and we can work something out.
Do you have any tips for shoots with babies?
Babies do really well full and rested. I know the rest thing doesn’t always happen, but try to feed your baby before you come over. If we need to take a break so you can feed them in the middle of the shoot that’s fine too. Another tip would be to schedule your shoot when you find your baby is at their best. Some babies like the morning some like the afternoon and some are night owls like myself. Finally don’t worry about getting your baby to smile in all the pictures, we want ALL the cute faces, even sour ones.
What do you love about your job?
Technically speaking I love the light! I’m an artist and people are my canvas, light is my paint and my camera is my brush. But really I love the relationships I have developed with my clients. A lot of my clients have become close friends. I get to watch their children grow up, and be there to capture it. I love that my photography is what my clients have to help them remember. It’s an honor I take very seriously.
